Michael Ungar book launch in support of Phoenix House

Michael Ungar will be launching his fist novel, The Social Worker on Tuesday, April 26th at the Company House at 6:30 p.m.  I can’t wait to get my hands on this book about a young delinquent named Joey who grows up in foster homes and detention centres to become a social worker with the goal of setting the system right.  Ungar,  a professor of Social Work at Dalhousie and recipient of the 2010 Canadian Association of Workers Distinguished Service Award, knows a bit  about that system and how things are never as simple as they appear, as Joey discovers.

Ungar will be reading excerpts from his novel and all proceeds will be donated to Phoenix House.  Phoenix is a non-profit community based organization in Halifax that offers help to homeless and at risk youth and works to address issues that lead to youth homelessness like poverty, housing, discrimination and literacy.

Come out to support a good cause and treat yourself to a new book.
